Hey everyone one we have a new folder, it's called "The Candle Project." There is a group here on DA called ATLA-Candle-Project, the candle project is about protecting the Avatar: The last airbender show and telling people not to judge the show by the movie. We are affiliated with them and they have been sending us some pictures (of candles,) These pictures are not really related to the racebending of the movie, but I thought some of our members might be interested in what these people from the candle project have to say. I agree that we defiently shouln't judge the movie by the series(not that I ever would) and I thought some of you guys would too so that's what I made the folder for. I have told them to please send thier deviantions to that folder and if any of you guys want to draw something that dosn't really realate to the racebending or the diversity of the series and it's more about how the show was WAY better than the movie feel free to submit it to "The Candle Project" folder.
Thanks

Dante Basco - Zuko's voice actor in the animated series - weighs in with his thoughts.
SORRY FOR THE SPAM. The news waits for no deviant, though!
The Early Reviews Come Pouring In...
And the critics are more or less in agreement.
Save your money and your sanity, see something else.
Avatar_Fans, the LJ community, has a list posted by dkwrkm compiling links to the reviews as they come in. The highest rating given to the film so far seems to be 2 Stars by the Seattle Times (allow me to be ashamed of my city for a moment), and that is the only one. At the same time, I'm not sure whether or not this is a victory for us, because most critics don't even bother going into the whitewashing of the leads and the underlying message of racism.
That's right, this movie is so bad on it's own that apparently no boycott or protest is n
More on Mike and Bryan at artbook signing in LA!
Full article posted here, but some highlights!
If I recall correctly, Bryan responded that if it had been his film, things might have been done differently, but that since it was not his movie, he didn’t have any control or say in how the movie got made.

Our supporters have been awesome, so when we went to the signing we wanted to make sure to get a book signed for one of them. I explained to the creators that we planned to give this book away to one of our readers, and that while we would like them to dedicate the book to “Racebending.com Supporter,” they could sign the book without the dedication if they did no
Devious Journal Entry
Ah, I'm so stupid. It's better if I just paste the info on here isn't it? /never mind.
I'll try this agian...
Holy COW! Have a look at this recent post from the racebending LJ:
"... What he told me was this, take of it what you will: "We [Golden Apple Comics] were told to not let anyone in line who had movie related merchandise, because Mike and Bryan were upset over the film and would only be signing items related to the TV show." A bit surprised, I asked, "Upset?" and was told, "Yeah, that's just what we heard –that's what we were told."
This doesn't prove anything, of course, but I can dream can't I? Thanks to bucketmouse for pio

excellent idea!
The vlog review Angry Joe (who was EXTRA angry with this review) got SO many comments about how he should give the series a chance he watched the first ep and tweeted about it as he did... and the first things he said were "why was there no penguin sledding in the movie?" and "OMG is that Rufio? RUFIO!!" (re Dante Basco as Zuko)
So yes, it is worthwhile to convince even the hardest hardcore movie haters to watch Just One Episode. Just the first. 22 minutes.
And then we've got 'em
